Rental-car insurance can sound complicated, but one number makes it easier: the excess.

Collision Damage Waiver—CDW—limits how much you may owe for covered damage to the rental vehicle. It does not necessarily mean every kind of damage is covered. The remaining amount is called the excess, or deductible, and it varies by offer, vehicle, and supplier.

CarRentalNet may also offer optional Theft & Damage Excess Protection. This works as reimbursement: if eligible damage or theft occurs, the rental company may charge you first, and after the rental you submit a claim to CarRentalNet with the required documents. You may still need to leave a deposit at pickup.

Before booking, open Terms & Price Details. Check the exact excess, deposit, covered drivers, exclusions, claim steps, and whether glass, tyres, wheels, underbody, keys or interior are included.
